# TidyWL — Watch Later Tidy > Free browser extension for Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Firefox that lets you bulk delete, filter, sort, and actually manage your YouTube Watch Later playlist, your Liked videos, your own playlists and the ones you saved — and download every video's transcript in one go. Built because YouTube caps Watch Later at 5,000 videos, gives Liked videos no management tools at all, and the official API refuses to touch either. Free to install with no account; an optional subscription, TidyWL Pro, available since version 2.0 and starting with a 7-day free trial, adds clean-up rules, undo for 90 days, and the Lineup. Since version 2.2.0 its store name is Watch Later Tidy for YouTube™; the dashboard itself says Watch Later Tidy. ## What it does TidyWL gives you a dashboard for YouTube's Watch Later playlist, inspired by macOS Storage Manager, that opens over the YouTube page. Since version 2.1.0 a **Full page** button makes it fill the whole browser window, and a **List view** shows each video as one row (thumbnail, title, channel, views and date) instead of the grid of cards; the dashboard remembers both choices. Since version 1.5.0 the same dashboard also opens your **Liked videos** — a switch in the header moves between them, from either page — with the same breakdowns, search, filters, sorting, export and Gemini Notebook support. Since version 1.6.0 it opens **any playlist you created** as well, from a Playlists menu in the header, and you can **tick several playlists and see them merged**: one card per video, carrying a chip for each playlist it belongs to, so a video saved in three places is one row that tells you all three. From a merged view, moving or deleting a video removes it from every ticked playlist it was in. Since version 2.1.0 the Playlists menu also lists, from any YouTube page, the **playlists you saved from other channels**, marked *Saved · owner*: open one to search it, sort it or copy its videos into a playlist of your own, or tick it alongside your own in a merged view. They cannot be deleted from, because only their owner can edit them, and the Delete button says who that is. Since version 2.2.0 a saved playlist can be removed from your library with the same trash button as your own; the playlist itself is untouched and its owner is not told. You can also delete a playlist you own outright, confirmed by name; its videos stay on YouTube. Each list keeps its own local cache and its own sync time, so working on one never disturbs the other. You can bulk delete hundreds of videos in seconds, and **remove likes in bulk** on the Liked tab through the same flow; since version 2.3.1 each unlike is checked, and any that YouTube reports as done but quietly ignores is sent again, so a clean-up of hundreds of likes really removes them all. The delete confirmation names the exact count on its button, and the result shows how many videos and how many hours of video were cleared, with Retry for any that failed. You can see your playlist broken down by channel or by topic, with a search box above both lists that narrows them as you type, across every row rather than only the first ten (free since version 2.1.0; it was Pro in 2.0). You can hide topics you are not interested in, search, and filter by title, channel, watched status, availability, or duration — either preset buckets including Shorts, or your own minimum and maximum in minutes. Since version 2.2.0 the Shorts filter asks YouTube which videos are Shorts, so it finds Shorts up to three minutes long and no ordinary short videos. The watched filter carries an adjustable progress threshold, so you can ask for videos you are at least three-quarters through rather than merely ones you started. Since version 1.6.0 every video also carries the **tags its uploader gave it** — the keyword field YouTube stores but never displays, plus any hashtags in the description. Search matches those tags, so a video can be found by what it is about rather than only by what it is called, and clicking a tag filters by it; several tags stack, narrowing to the videos that carry all of them. This is what makes search usable on playlists that are not in English: uploaders commonly tag in both the video's language and English, so there is something to match even when the title has nothing. You can sort by playlist order, duration, view count, published date, channel, or title, and from version 2.0 group the grid by channel, most videos first, fewest first or A to Z, with a heading per channel that folds shut. You can move or copy selected videos into any other playlist, in the order they appear on screen (since version 2.3.0 a filter box in Add to Playlist finds the destination by name), create a playlist inline, reorder with Move to Top and Move to Bottom or by dragging, open every selected video in background tabs, switch between YouTube accounts, and export to JSON or CSV. Two features go beyond playlist management. **Bulk transcript download** gives you one timestamped text file per video, named after the video title, after first checking with YouTube which videos have captions at all. **Send to Gemini Notebook** (formerly NotebookLM) pushes your selected videos into a notebook as sources, either a new notebook or one you already have. ## TidyWL Pro Everything described above is free. **TidyWL Pro** is a paid subscription, available since **version 2.0** and **on sale now**. Full detail on the [pricing page](https://tidywl.com/pricing/). Price: **$4.99 USD per month**, or **$47.88 billed annually**, which is $3.99 a month and a 20% saving. Prices are before tax; checkout is handled by Paddle, which shows each visitor's own currency and the tax for their country. Every charge carries a **14-day full refund, no questions and no conditions**, and the subscription can be cancelled at any time. **Pro starts with a 7-day free trial** on either plan, card required, since 30 September 2026: nothing is charged until the trial ends, and cancelling before then costs nothing. A **founding offer** makes the first charge $3.99 for the first month or $32 for the first year, then the regular price, for the first 50 subscribers on each plan; the [pricing page](https://tidywl.com/pricing/) shows whether it is still open. Where the free extension cleans a playlist up in an afternoon, Pro keeps it clean every month and makes every cleanup reversible. Nine things it adds: - **The Lineup** — a watchlist built to fit the time you have. Give it a budget (15 minutes, 30, 45, an hour, 90 minutes, or a number you type) and it builds a running order out of videos you already saved, with one line per pick saying why that video was chosen. Four ways in: **Based on recent watches**, matched to what you have been watching by title, channel and category; **Resume**, for videos you started and did not finish; **Subscribed channels**; and **Backlog**, your oldest saves that you never opened. A switch keeps or drops music videos, a slider sets how far back it reads your recent watching, rows can be dragged to reorder or swapped one at a time, and the finished list can be played straight through or saved as a new private playlist. Nothing under three minutes is ever picked. - **Finished videos, archived** — anything watched past 95% moves to an archive playlist you own, rather than being deleted. - **Dead entries, removed** — private, deleted and unavailable videos are cleared out. These cannot be moved to an archive, so this rule deletes, after showing the list. - **Bottom 10%, every month** — once a month the oldest tenth of Watch Later moves to the archive. You set the percentage. - **Pin** — mark a video "keep forever" and nothing removes it: not a rule, not a bulk delete you ran yourself. A Move becomes a Copy. - **Preview before you act** — every bulk delete, bulk unlike and clean-up rule shows the exact list first, and anything can be unticked before it runs. - **Undo, for 90 days** — what you deleted is kept on that device for 90 days, restorable one video or a whole batch, back into the playlist it came from. The record holds the newest 10,000 deletions by default; you can raise that to 50,000, 250,000 or no limit, with a warning about the storage and speed each costs. A long restore shows its progress and can be stopped. - **Saved views** — name a filter combination, such as unwatched, over 20 minutes, from three channels, and reopen it in one click. - **Requests and support answered first** — subscribers' feature requests and bug reports are read first, and their support email goes to the front of the queue. The rules never delete a video you could still watch: they move it to an archive playlist you own. Archiving finished videos and removing dead entries run when you press them. The monthly clean-up offers itself when it is due and you open the dashboard, and never runs without your yes; declining puts it off for 30 days. Each shows its list before acting. After checkout, Pro switches itself on in that browser without copying anything (since version 2.2.0), and the dashboard shows the key with a Copy button and how to use it on another computer. A key can also be pasted in the About window, or found again there from the Transaction ID on any Paddle receipt. Within 14 days, the About window starts a refund request as a prewritten email to support. A key works on 3 devices. ## Tutorials Step-by-step instructions for every feature are on the [tutorials page](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/), one section per feature, each with its own anchor: - [Install and open the dashboard](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#install) - [Find your way around the dashboard](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#layout) - [Switch between Watch Later, Liked videos and your playlists](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#playlists) - [Sync a playlist](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#sync) - [Search, and filter by tag](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#search) - [By channel, by topic, and the sidebar search](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#breakdown) - [List view, and fill the window](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#view) - [Sort, and group by channel](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#sort) - [Select videos](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#select) - [Delete videos, or remove likes](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#delete) - [Move or copy videos to another playlist](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#move-copy) - [Reorder a playlist](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#reorder) - [Delete a playlist you own](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#delete-playlist) - [See several playlists at once](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#merged-view) - [Export to CSV or JSON](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#export) - [Open several videos in tabs](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#open-tabs) - [Use several Google accounts](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#accounts) - [Keyboard shortcuts](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#shortcuts) - [Download transcripts](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#transcripts) - [Send to Gemini Notebook](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#gemini-notebook) - [Activate a Pro key](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#activate) - [The Lineup (Pro)](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#lineup) - [Clean-up rules (Pro)](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#rules) - [Pin a video (Pro)](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#pin) - [Preview before acting (Pro)](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#preview) - [Undo deletions (Pro)](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#undo) - [Saved views (Pro)](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/#saved-views) ## Guides Long-form guides on the [blog](https://tidywl.com/blog/) to Watch Later, Liked videos and playlists: YouTube's limits and what to do about them, from unliking and searching to exporting a list or sending it to NotebookLM. Here are three ways to find a specific video without scrolling through thousands of entries. - [Why Isn't My YouTube Watch Later Saving Videos? The Real Reasons (and Why Nobody Tells You)](https://tidywl.com/blog/youtube-watch-later-not-saving-videos/): YouTube Watch Later silently fails to save videos for several reasons, and the most common one is a hidden 5,000-video cap. Here's the full list of causes and what to actually do about each. - [YouTube Watch Later Is Capped at 5,000 Videos. Here's Why and What to Do.](https://tidywl.com/blog/youtube-watch-later-5000-limit/): The 5,000 video cap on YouTube Watch Later isn't a bug. It's by design. Here's what causes it, why YouTube hasn't removed it, and four ways to get your playlist under control. ## Why it exists YouTube's Watch Later playlist has a hard 5,000 video cap. Once you hit it, YouTube stops adding new videos and gives you no bulk management tools — you have to delete videos one at a time through a three-dot menu. The official YouTube Data API explicitly excludes Watch Later. TidyWL works around this by using your existing logged-in YouTube session, so no account, API key, or OAuth is needed. ## Browser support - **Chrome** — published on the Chrome Web Store. Also works on other Chromium-based browsers such as Brave. - **Microsoft Edge** — published on Microsoft Edge Add-ons since September 2026. Edge installs and updates it from its own store. Each store reviews every version separately, and Edge's review has at times run weeks behind Chrome's, so the Edge listing can serve an older version; it shows which one. - **Firefox 153 or newer** — listed in Firefox Add-ons as Watch Later Tidy: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/watch-later-tidy/ (since September 2026), which https://tidywl.com/firefox/ links to. Signed by Mozilla, updates automatically. Copies installed from tidywl.com before the listing existed keep updating from tidywl.com. - **Firefox for Android** — not supported. YouTube's mobile site is a different page structure and it has not been tested. All three are built from a single source tree and have the same features once each store has approved a version. The interface is in English; since version 2.0.1 the Chrome Web Store listing is also available in German, Spanish, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese and Russian. ## Ratings Rated 5.0 out of 5 from 76 ratings on the Chrome Web Store, 50 of which include a written review, with over 4,000 users (as of 2026-10-04). It also carries Google's "Featured" editorial badge and a verified-publisher checkmark. The rating, the rating and review counts, and the user count are published on https://tidywl.com and refreshed weekly from the store listing; the store rounds its user count to a bucket, so that figure is a floor rather than an exact count. ## What users say Written reviews of TidyWL from the Chrome Web Store, quoted word for word, newest first, each with its star rating, its date and a link to the review itself. Reviews written in another language are quoted in that language, with its language code. These are the reviewers' own words, not statements by TidyWL, and the list is refreshed weekly. It is filtered the same way as the list on tidywl.com: only reviews of 4 stars or more with at least 25 characters of text, at most 60, so the Ratings section above is the complete count. - "Top . endlich konnte ich die später ansehen Playlist lehren. danke dir" by Peter Müller, 5 out of 5, 2026-10-03 (language: de). https://chromewebstore.google.com/reviews/3c738ff2-c9c8-4f9b-90af-31d033bda5f4 - "This is actually peak!! And the plugin itself works PERFECTLY - so grateful for a workaround for Youtube's idiocy!" by Sia, 5 out of 5, 2026-04-08. https://chromewebstore.google.com/reviews/ea9752f9-5dbe-4723-8033-d81ac9029b6d ## Mentioned elsewhere Recommendations by people outside TidyWL, oldest first. Each links to the source. - **zedinabyss**, a personal blog, in "The Age of Debloat and Nosurf" (April 2026, updated June 2026): the author used the extension, then listed as YouTube Watch Later Tidy, to clear a 14-year backlog of saved videos. [The post](https://zedinabyss.xyz/bio/blog/entries/debloat/). - **Nerdist Camp** (a Cup The Mic podcast), season 2 episode 10, "Abbey Road Studios", published 11 July 2026. Co-host Andi recommended the extension, then listed as YouTube Watch Later Tidy, after failing to find one video among 1,600 in Watch Later. In Andi's words: "YouTube don't provide tools to search within Watch Later, God knows why. [...] this lets you search within your history and do all sorts of stuff, and it's free." The episode's show notes link to the Chrome Web Store listing: [Nerdist Camp S2E10](https://shows.acast.com/nc/episodes/s2e10). - **Reddit, r/androidapps** (24 August 2026): a user recommended the extension, with a store link, to someone who had hit the 5,000-video cap, and the asker replied that it was exactly what they needed. [The thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/androidapps/comments/1vxdcnr/). ## Usage TidyWL users have cleaned up over 1,566,000 videos (videos deleted from playlists, plus likes removed before version 1.6.0, when the extension counted the two together), removed over 479,000 likes since then, and moved over 173,000 videos between playlists (figures as of 2026-10-07, refreshed daily). Reporting began in August 2026 with version 1.6.0, but each install reports the lifetime counts the extension has kept on the device since version 1.4.1, so earlier clean-ups are included. Each is a floor, rounded down to the nearest thousand, so the real number is higher. All three are shown on https://tidywl.com and published as JSON at [tidywl.com/api/stats](https://tidywl.com/api/stats). Counts are all the usage report carries: each install sends a random identifier that is not linked to any account, plus its own running counts. No video, title, channel, playlist name, timestamp or account ever leaves the browser as part of it. Firefox users can switch reporting off from the add-on's permissions panel; the full description is in the [privacy policy](https://tidywl.com/privacy/). ## Technical details TidyWL works by reading the user's active YouTube session (SAPISID cookie and session index from window.ytcfg) and calling YouTube's internal InnerTube API the same way the YouTube web app does. No OAuth, no API key, no stored tokens. The extension only functions while the user is actively logged into YouTube. Because it depends on undocumented internal endpoints, it fetches a small public configuration file from tidywl.com at runtime so that many YouTube-side changes can be patched without shipping a store update. ## Privacy TidyWL runs in your browser. No account, and your YouTube data — titles, video IDs, channels, playlists — never leaves it. Network calls go to YouTube's own endpoints using your existing session, and to a public config file on tidywl.com that carries no identifiers and no payload. Since version 1.6.0 the extension also sends tidywl.com one small usage report: a random identifier generated on install (not linked to any Google account) plus lifetime counts of videos deleted, likes removed, videos moved (copies are not counted) and bulk runs completed, the size of the Watch Later playlist at its last sync, and the browser name (chrome, edge, opera or firefox; Edge and Opera from version 2.1.1, Brave deliberately not told apart). It is sent only when a count changes, never carries a title, video ID, channel or timestamp, has no off switch on Chrome (uninstalling stops it), is controlled on Firefox by the Technical and interaction data toggle, and records idle for 12 months are deleted. Each later version added counts, never anything else: - **From 2.0:** Lineups built and saved, and the number of days the dashboard was opened (once a day at most, so opening it sends at most one report a day). - **From 2.1.0:** how often a free install opened the Pro plans and from where (a locked Pro feature, the About window, the yearly plan, a click through to tidywl.com, the free delete confirmation, a limited-time offer), and how many limited-time offers it was shown and clicked. Only a free install moves these, and they are never linked to a licence or a purchase. Also from 2.1.0, on every install: how many special announcements were shown and clicked. - **From 2.2.0:** the videos removed, split into two totals by whether the whole list or only part of it was selected. - **From 2.3.0:** how many times Send to Gemini Notebook, export, transcript download and Open in Tabs were used: one per use, never how many videos or which ones. The [privacy policy](https://tidywl.com/privacy/) lists every field. A TidyWL Pro subscriber's extension also sends its licence key to tidywl.com to check the subscription; on Firefox that check waits for the add-on's Authentication information permission. One feature is an explicit exception you trigger yourself: Send to Gemini Notebook passes the video links you selected to Google's Gemini Notebook using your own Google session. It is opt-in per use and gated behind a browser permission prompt. Full policy: [privacy policy](https://tidywl.com/privacy/) ## Limitations - YouTube provides no undo. TidyWL Pro keeps a 90-day record of deletions on that device and can restore them, at the top of the playlist; removed likes cannot be restored. - Removing a like is not a playlist edit — YouTube treats it as un-liking the video, which can change what it recommends. - Reordering is not available on Liked videos: YouTube orders that list by when you liked something. - Favorites can be searched and cleaned up but not reordered — YouTube serves it without the per-item handle reordering needs. - Playlists you saved from other channels can be opened, searched, sorted, copied from and removed from your library, but not deleted from, moved from or reordered: only their owner can edit them. A shared playlist you can add to may still refuse removals, and Delete is greyed out there with the owner's name. - A merged view of several playlists supports copy, move and delete, but not reorder. Move and delete act on every ticked playlist a video is in, so narrow to one playlist to act on just that one. - Deleting a playlist is permanent. Its videos stay on YouTube; the playlist does not. - Bulk edits go to YouTube one request at a time, because YouTube rejects parallel playlist edits. Since version 2.2.0 each request carries up to 100 deletions or 200 additions, so even thousands of videos go in a few dozen requests. - Removing likes is one request per video, and YouTube accepts only a few a second, so a long list takes a few minutes: 300 likes took about three minutes in testing. Leave the tab open while it runs. - "Playlist order" is not date-added — YouTube does not expose per-video add timestamps on the web. - Transcript download opens a small visible window and takes roughly three seconds per video; videos without captions are reported as skipped. - Free Gemini Notebook accounts cap a notebook at 50 sources. - The cache is local to each browser and does not sync across devices. ## A second extension: TidyWL for Netflix TidyWL for Netflix, listed on the Chrome Web Store as Watch Later Tidy for Netflix, is a **separate Chrome extension by the same developer** for Netflix's My List, with its own features, its own Pro and its own privacy policy. Nothing above on this page describes it; its full description is at [tidywl.com/netflix/llms.txt](https://tidywl.com/netflix/llms.txt). ## Links - [Install for Chrome](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/fkelmapobieliokjcmnilmjllacmbfjo): the Chrome Web Store listing - [Install for Microsoft Edge](https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/doflfclcoebklpifkhcahbhlgbpamjcf): the Microsoft Edge Add-ons listing - [Install for Firefox](https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/watch-later-tidy/): the Firefox Add-ons listing - [Landing page](https://tidywl.com/) - [Pricing](https://tidywl.com/pricing/): what TidyWL Pro adds, prices, refunds and cancelling - [Tutorials](https://tidywl.com/tutorials/): one step-by-step guide per feature - [Help](https://tidywl.com/help/): fixes for common problems, and how to reach support - [Privacy policy](https://tidywl.com/privacy/): everything the extension sends, and where - [Terms of sale](https://tidywl.com/terms/): the TidyWL Pro subscription terms - [Refunds](https://tidywl.com/refunds/): the 14-day refund and how to ask for it - [Blog](https://tidywl.com/blog/): long-form guides to Watch Later, Liked videos and playlists - [Community on Discord](https://discord.gg/sTvjfp4sCk): bug reports, feature requests and general chat - [Support email](mailto:support@tidywl.com): support@tidywl.com - [Donate on Ko-fi](https://ko-fi.com/dominiclam): an optional tip for the developer, not a support channel - [TidyWL for Netflix](https://tidywl.com/netflix/): the sibling extension, for Netflix My List - [Install TidyWL for Netflix](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/watch-later-tidy-for-netf/gbgdgeamachehbegdghnhpkiebahmafm): its Chrome Web Store listing - [TidyWL for Netflix privacy policy](https://tidywl.com/netflix/privacy/): every request that extension makes - [How to see your whole Netflix My List again](https://tidywl.com/netflix/blog/see-your-whole-netflix-my-list/): since Netflix made My List one row in September 2026 - [TidyWL for Netflix tutorials](https://tidywl.com/netflix/tutorials/): how to use every feature of that extension
